Spotlight on Tina Sanborn

Kudos to Tina Sanborn. In my opinion, nobody in the history of the Clermont County Republican Party has done more, and has received less recognition, than Tina Sanborn. Tina has been a Party activist for 30 years and a member of the Central Committee for 20 years. Tina is the wall flower type who is happy doing the Party grunt work while the “big shots” get all the accolades. Tina is usually the person who cleans up the GOP HQ and keeps the refrigerator and cabinets stocked with food and supplies. And as if that’s not enough, she pays for it all out of her modest income and never asks for reimbursement. Tina represents the trifecta of donating time, talent, and treasure to the Clermont County Republican Party and various candidates. For the past three years, she has donated a week of her vacation time to work the GOP booth at the county fair. She schedules helpers, decorates the facility, and purchases the food, snacks, beverages, and decorations. This year she even purchased a new A/C unit as, yet, another donation to the Party.
When I first decided to run for State Representative, Tina was the first person I went to ask for support. She gave me an immediate “YES” and has been a loyal supporter all along.
Tina is also a new member of the West Clermont School Board. She has demonstrated the courage to stand alone and vote “NO” multiple times. Most recently, she was the single “NO” vote against putting a tax levy on the ballot. In her judgment, the public can’t afford it and the voters won’t approve it. She may be right. Regardless, I like her approach to looking at the bigger picture of the whole community rather than a narrow focus on just the schools. Tina Sanborn is an unsung hero of the Republican Party and the community.

Beckerisms

Like everybody else, I was horrified by the Aurora, Colorado Century 16 movie cinema massacre. Not surprisingly, the left was quick to jump on the opportunity to call for stronger gun control laws. I can’t help but wonder what the left would come up with if they applied their gun control logic to movie theatres. I’ve thought of two proposals that liberals may be considering: 1) a five day waiting period on the sale of movie tickets; 2) Reduce the number of movies available at a single location to five. They might believe that such “common sense” measures would prevent future massacres.

Becker for the 65th State Representative District

The election will be November 6th. I’ve raised over $40,000 and expanded my donor base to about 350 people in six different states! Donation size has ranged from $1 to $1,000 and has averaged $67. Nearly all contributions have been from individuals only. You could donate for FREE! You may know that a $50 per taxpayer dollar-for-dollar tax CREDIT (It is $100 on a joint return.) is available every year. The “Ohio political contributions credit” is on line 55 of your Ohio IT 1040. Simply claim it on your state of Ohio tax return and get your money back. Contributions to candidates for State Representative (and other "state offices") qualify for this credit. That is why you will be able to help me, to help you, and have it cost you nothing. I received the following from John Otworth:

The Grand Opening of the Clermont County Victory Center was a huge success. Well over eighty people were in attendance to hear talks given by County Chairman Tim Rudd, State Representative Joe Uecker, and Congressional candidate Brad Wenstrup. Now that the center is open we are running at full speed and need volunteers willing to make phone calls and go door to door. If you are interested in making sure Obama is a one term President please call me on my cell at 937-402-7182 or just stop by at the Victory Center from 9AM to 9PM Monday through Saturday at our offices in Eastgate (813 Eastgate South Drive, Cincinnati). Thanks once again for helping us have a great opening and let’s get to work!
