Beckerisms

Issue 1 – Vote NO
This changes how State House and Senate districts are drawn. I voted not to put this on the ballot because of sloppy language. My fear is that it would give the judiciary more opportunity to control the process. Federal judges don't seem to need any additional "opportunity." Some of them already think of themselves as super legislators and do whatever they see as right in their own eyes. The 14th Amendment is the typical catch-all Amendment that they use to justify unlimited federal power. Therefore, short of multiple impeachments or secession, it really doesn't matter what our laws are when certain federal judges don't like them. See
The Becker Doctrine for more on this.
Another argument against Issue 1 is the potential for redrawing district maps twice per decade. This has the potential to increase the leverage that leadership has to threaten individual legislators, by drawing them out of their districts.

Issue 2 – Vote ?
When issue 2 was debated in the General Assembly, it was my understanding that it was targeted toward prohibiting drug cartels such as created by Issue 3. It was also pointed out that the casino issue would not be in the Ohio Constitution had Issue 2 been in place at the time. That was why I voted YES and had been a proponent. That may have been a mistake. It has since come to my attention that Issue 2 may have unintended consequences having to do with citizen initiatives to control tax rates. I'm moving toward a neutral position on this one.
My recommendation on Issue 2 has to do with what is going to happen on Issue 3. If Issue 3 passes, I want Issue 2 to pass by a larger margin and total votes. The best scenario is that they both fail. The worst scenario is that they both pass and Issue 3 passes by a larger margin.

Issue 3 – Vote Hell NO!
This issue creates the marijuana drug cartel.
