Beckerisms

Pro-Life? Or so-called "Pro-Choice"?
I just had a few thoughts on that topic of life and death: The pro-life position is easy to defend both on scientific and moral grounds. The DNA of a newly fertilized egg (embryo) is unmistakably human. On what grounds should it ever be legal to take the life of an innocent human being? Regarding the so-called "pro-choice" position, I find it completely indefensible. On what other conditions do they accept the killing of an innocent human being? And what about the father of the child? Does he get a voice in the decision to kill his baby? What about the child? Who is supposed to speak for the child? Does it really matter which end of the birth canal the baby is on?

Replica Title Bill
My latest bill is HB 421. It is the first bi-partisan and non-controversial bill I've ever done. (Don't get used to that.) It is the brain child of State Representative
John Patterson (D - Ashtabula). He asked me to be a joint sponsor and I've since become fascinated with the topic. For people familiar with kit cars and home made experimental contraptions, those cars are titled in Ohio with a generic name and the year of manufacture. For a car that is a replica of something from days gone by, the bill allows the car to be titled as a replica of whatever it most closely resembles. So, in addition to (not in place of) the current language on such titles, the added language would be something like "Replica 1931 Packard."

Ohio House of Representatives - My current active House bills:

HB 53 - Public Sector Right to Work

HB 233 - Decriminalization Effort for Ending Notorious Deaths (DEFEND). It decriminalizes so-called "gun free zones" for Concealed Handgun License (CHL) holders. This bill passed the House and is awaiting action in the Senate.

HB 333 - Eliminates the Ohio Marriage Penalty.

HB 421 - Replica Title Bill
