Haiti – Human rights abuses (September 19, 1994)
September 19, 1994
Dear Editor:
Thank God I’m not a Haitian; for I would have surely died while defending my country from the planned foreign invasion. Yes, the current government is bad, but the atrocities committed by the psychotic Aristide were worse. Remember his masochistic “necklacing” — the gasoline inflamed tires placed around the necks of opponents. Aristide described them as “pretty.”
The Sept. 15 (need for invasion) speech by President Clinton brought to mind a number of questions: Has the infamous draft dodger changed his mind about “loathing” the military as he wrote Dec. 3, 1969? How can he (with a straight face) use the words “RIGHT TO LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” when he has done everything in his power to promote unrestricted and government funded abortion on demand throughout the world?
How can he talk about human rights abuses in Haiti when the U.S. leads the world in the slaughter of unborn children? True, we don’t use machetes, but I can imagine what that scalpel looks like through the eyes of the baby.
