More on the abortion debate
Report shows 600,000 lives lost in abortion adds up to $6.9 trillion in losses for US economy in 2019
A few people on social media were offended by the June 2022 issue of The Becker Report. It was full of extensive commentary on abortion. My take away from the comments is that otherwise good people, who are also pro-abortion, looked into their own souls on this issue. They were offended by what they saw. Well, that sounds like the first step to recovery. I’m glad to know that I was helpful.
Human Rights
Has anybody noticed how President Biden talks about being all-in for human rights? How does he square that with being all-in for abortion? I suppose that he believes that some human beings have more value than others. Didn’t we settle that debate back in the 1860s? It doesn’t appear that the Democrat Party will ever change. They fought for slavery, Jim Crow, and now abortion on demand through the ninth month for any reason or no reason. I wonder if it is because a disproportionate number of abortions are black and brown babies??? Well, the Democrat Party has been consistent (and consistently on the wrong side of history).
A woman’s (or is it a “birthing person’s”) right to kill?
I need help understanding the logic that supports killing babies at varies stages of development in-utero, as well as during birth. In what way is the baby fundamentally different on either end of the birth canal?
Post-birth abortions
For those who support a mother’s right to kill her child in-utero, what about after birth? I need help understanding the difference between killing a child in-utero, during birth, after birth, or at, say, five years old. What DNA or chromosomal change occurs during any or all of these stages of development? To be consistent, the debate needs to be about killing babies from their creation (fertilization) until they reach 18 years of age.
Should abortions for 10-year-old girls be legal?
Once you get past the emotion (shock) of a 10-year-old getting pregnant (especially due to rape), a dispassionate analysis is quite simple.
Let’s review the principals involved. There are only three legitimate reasons to take the life of another human being:
- War
- Capital punishment after due process of law
- Self-defense
Since we know with certainty that abortion always (or attempts to) kill(s) a human being, the self-defense argument is the only one that applies. Other than an ectopic pregnancy, I don’t know of any way a pregnancy can threaten the life of the mother.
All of that being said, I fully support whatever counselling and support this child needs.
What is a woman?
Why is this question even asked? What does that say about our nation’s decline of common sense and decency?
Regardless, let’s just assume for the moment that the obvious anatomical features observed at birth are not enough. Thinking back to ninth grade biology; remember the chromosomal differences of XX and XY? Women are XX. DNA also confirms sex.
Watch the Matt Walsh movie. For more on this movie from Matt Walsh, click here.
Can men get pregnant?
Do men have uteruses? Any other stupid questions?
What about women (with uteruses and XX chromosomes) who convert to men?
Are cross-dressing women, men? Will swapping out wardrobes, and sex change operations, change chromosomes and DNA? FOLLOW THE SCIENCE!
What about biological men (who identify as women) flopping around in the women’s locker rooms?
Really? (I’m done with this topic.)
Gun Control?
Good guy with a gun wins again. ‘Saving countless lives.’ Armed bystander praised for intervening in Greenwood mall shooting
Had this happened at the Eastgate Mall, the hero would be subject to prosecution because the mall is a so-called “gun free zone.” That means that the bad guys can shoot everybody without fear of return fire. Does that make sense to anybody?
Here’s another example of a good guy with a gun: Customer shoots robbery suspect holding knife to gas station worker’s neck, MO cops say

Union Township Update
Union Township welcomes new and growing businesses
TQL will be adding an additional 1,000 jobs at its sprawling UT campus.
Kroger bought the old Sears store at the Eastgate Mall. Additionally, the Union Township Board of Trustees approved Kroger’s plans to demolish Sears and build a new 123,722 square foot Kroger Marketplace store detached from the mall. The store will include a Starbucks, drive through pharmacy, expanded deli, expanded bakery, a Murray Cheese section, sushi, expanded adult beverage section, apparel, home goods, expanded grocery section, and a Kroger fuel center with 18 fuel pumps. The fuel will be on the Wendy’s side of the parking lot. The northeast side of the store will have a parking area for on-line pickup. The current Kroger store on Eastgate Boulevard will likely close sometime next year in coordination with opening the new Kroger Marketplace store. The Mt. Carmel store will be closing in mid-August. All associates will be offered transfers to other stores. We hope to see something new in the Mt. Carmel area as soon as possible.
Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe is now open at the Cherry Grove Shopping Plaza.
Sportsman’s Warehouse is in the process of moving into the old Stein Mart location in the shopping center across from Jungle Jim’s.
Outback Steakhouse is planning a new restaurant near Meijer’s where the old Starbucks and a video store used to be. Demolition is expected this fall. Construction is scheduled for winter and the grand opening is planned for early 2023.
Take 5 Oil Change will be building on the site of an old shuttered Wendy’s near the corner of Ohio Pike and Nine Mile Road.
Biggby Coffee will build a new location in Meijer’s parking lot near the current Chase Bank location. Due to upcoming road construction, Chase Bank will be closing and potentially rebuilding in the immediate area.
Kenwood Bible Methodist Church has purchased Summerside United Methodist Church. They are doing some remodeling and upgrades. Look for worship services to begin in late July or early August.

Union Township Restaurant visits
My intent is to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, or carryout at EVERY restaurant in Union Township. In addition to traditional restaurants, I also include a few specialty eateries like coffee, doughnut, dessert shops, and fish fries.
None of the expenses related to any of this are from government or campaign funds. They are entirely out of my own pocket.
