“We will replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.”
Wow! NYC Mayor Mamdani really did say that.
Like Comrade Zohran Mamdani, Beijing’s Communist Party bosses are all about the “warmth of collectivism,” which really means surrendering individual rights to a totalitarian regime.

Race for Ohio Governor
Vivek Ramaswamy selects Senate President Rob McColley for Lt. Gov.
Good choice. I served with Rob McColley in the Ohio House of Representatives. He wasn’t part of the “caveman caucus” but he’s a good man.

John Becker, CTP, MBA for Clermont County Auditor
My resume checks all the boxes:
- Tax Accountant
- MBA from Xavier University with an emphasis in Taxation.
- Certified Treasury Professional (CTP).
- School District Treasurer License (exp. 2023)
- Thirty years of private-sector accounting, budgeting, forecasting, planning, reporting, analysis, and management experience.
- State Representative from 2013 to 2020 (forced out by term limits).
- Union Township Trustee since January 2022.
Becker Wins!
But not by enough.
The Clermont County Republican Party considered endorsing for County Auditor. I won the vote 52% to 48%. (I’d be happy with that result on election day – May 5.) However, 60% is required for the endorsement. Therefore: No endorsement.

John Becker talks trash in Union Township
Keep our community clean. Please don’t litter.
Every Day is Earth Day in Union Township.
Let’s Make Union Township Clean Again.
Union Township messaging will hopefully bring awareness to the litter problem and make our community a cleaner place to live, work, and play.
John Becker’s gearhead trash talk video (6 minutes)
The following is where I’ve been picking up trash (servant leadership):
2025 Summary
I went out on 13 different occasions collecting roadside trash. The areas included sections of Rumpke Road, Locust Lane, sections of Old SR 74, Eastgate Boulevard, top portions of the on- and off-ramps for SR 32, Bach Buxton Road, part of Marian Drive, Shephard Road, the Big Lots parking lot, the area around Men’s Wearhouse.
Unusual events included returning a shopping cart to Kroger and the “911 emergency call” about a trash “explosion” at Valley Wood Drive and Bach Buxton Road. (Okay, it was really a private message from a constituent on Nextdoor.)
I also began keeping a 5-gallon bucket and a trash grabber in my truck to frequently collect roadside trash “on the fly.”
2024 Summary
Beginning in October, I went out on 10 different occasions collecting roadside trash. The areas included Clepper Park, sections of Rumpke Road, sections of Old SR 74, Eastgate Boulevard, and Bach Buxton Road.

Visit the “Listening Bench.” Her schedule is Monday and Wednesday from 10 AM to noon. Look for her at Veterans Park facing the pond. She has only one rule: “Do not confess to any crimes.” But don’t despair, the Union Township police are always eager to hear criminal confessions.
Union Township welcomes new and growing businesses
Some of the below may be pending trustee approval:
- Taqueria & Tamaleria Nuevo Leon (Mexican restaurant, based out of Texas) is now open for business. It is on the corner of Ohio Pike and Glen Este Withamsville Road.
- A Dollar General is under construction at the old car wash location on Old SR 74 in Summerside. It’s expected to open in mid-February 2026.
- Boot Barn moving into the old Joann Fabrics location on Eastgate Blvd. Their sign says “now hiring.”
- The Cove, a 16,000 square-foot mixed-use commercial center, is adjacent to the roundabout at Eastgate Blvd. and Ferguson Drive. The building is intended to house retail space on the first floor, as well as a drive-thru area for a restaurant or coffee shop (on the west side of the building)—with office space planned for the second floor. Construction has begun and substantial completion is expected by February-March of 2026.
- Rumpke is constructing a $12 million indoor waste and recycling transfer facility. The facility will also have public recycling stations available for residents and businesses to utilize throughout the year. It will be located off of Round Bottom Road within the northern-most portion of the Champion’s Way development. Construction is expected to be completed between the end of this year or first part of 2026.
- Primrose School is planning to build in Ivy Pointe north of Sharefax Credit Union. The Township has issued the zoning permit and they are in process at Clermont County Permit Central. Site work and construction activity appears to be underway. This project represents another $8 million – $10 million in investment within the Ivy Pointe Commerce Park.
- The VA Clinic’s construction is nearly complete. It is located in Ivy Pointe north of Children’s Hospital. A ribbon cutting is expect to be scheduled early 2026.
- The old Glen Este High School site (approved by a prior Board of Trustees) consists of four projects either completed or under construction. When complete, about 1,150 units will be available. About a third of them are classified as “affordable housing.”
- Panda Express has begun construction activities next to the Union Township library and is expected to be open between March-April of 2026.
- Alfaa purchased and submitted plans to build on an empty lot on the corner of Aicholtz Road and Eastgate Blvd. UT has issued the zoning permit. Construction is anticipated to start within the next few months.
- Honda East is expanding their operations in Cherry Grove. Construction has begun and completion of the new building is expected in the Spring of 2026. Demolition of the existing dealership will begin immediately afterwards.
