The Becker Report – May 2022
Beckerisms
Will the infamous Roe v. Wade decision from 1973 finally be corrected?
Not about Pro-Life or Pro-Abortion. It’s about being Pro-Constitution and returning to the rule of law.
‘Truly remarkable’: Pro-life lawyer praises Justice Alito’s leaked draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade
Liberals are horrified at the thought of all human beings having equal rights.
If SCOTUS were to correct the injustice of Roe v Wade and return the issue to the states, then we will have a patchwork of pro-life states and pro-abortion states. Similarly, we once had free states and slave states. Once again, liberals and Democrats are on the wrong side of history.
Horrifyingly, Democrat US Senator Sherrod Brown, along with all Democrat Senators (except Joe Manchin), voted to remove all state protections for mothers and their in-utero babies. Had they succeeded, killing babies would have been legal until the hour of birth.
The Democrats’ abortion bill is not just radical. It’s unconstitutional, by Marc A. Thiessen
According to LifeNews.com, the bill would:
- Eliminate all state and federal parental consent laws in relation to abortion
- Eliminate all state informed consent laws, including those that allow women to view an ultrasound prior to abortion
- Prevent states from passing laws to protect babies at 20 weeks, thereby joining countries like North Korea, China, Vietnam, Singapore, Canada, and the Netherlands in not protecting unborn children later in development
- Force doctors and nurses opposed to abortion to lose their jobs, and Catholic hospitals could lose public funds unless they perform abortions
- Eliminate decades-long limitations on direct taxpayer funding of abortion – including the popular Hyde Amendment, which has saved more than 2 million lives since enacted
Dred Scott (1857) and Roe v. Wade (1973)
Compare and contrast
Many think of Roe v. Wade similarly to Dred Scott: Slave owner’s rights verses human rights. The following was a widely held view on the topic back in the day: “Although I’m personally opposed to slavery, who am I to impose my personal beliefs on the rights of slave owners?” Sound familiar?
Unlike Roe v. Wade, the Dred Scott decision did not overturn state laws and legalize slavery nationwide. No state’s human rights protections were overturned.
Far worse than Dred Scott, Roe v. Wade horrifyingly forced all 50 states to allow abortions. As the decades have gone by and follow-up SCOTUS decisions, some states enacted limited protections for the mother and her in-utero child. When Roe v. Wade is overturned, the states will be allowed, but not required, to enact human rights protections.
After the infamous Dred Scott decision in 1857, it took until 1865 for the ratification of the 13th Amendment to the US Constitution to enact nationwide human rights protections. Let’s hope that it won’t take another civil war to bring legal protections to all people.
It is truly amazing what little has changed since the 1860s. Then, liberals and Democrat slave owners fought against human rights protections for a certain class of people. In contrast, abolitionists and Republicans fought for the rights of all people regardless of where they lived.
Today, liberals and Democrats continue to fight against human rights protections for a certain class of people. In contrast, today’s abolitionists (AKA pro-lifers) and Republicans continue to fight for the rights of all people regardless of where they live or stage of development.
Liberals in panic
Leaked Supreme Court draft on abortion sends liberals into panic mode over future of same-sex ‘marriage’
Liberals are horrified by the prospect that the states and the people might choose to FOLLOW THE SCIENCE and enact protections for human rights.
The “right” of “birthing people” to kill their children is in jeopardy. “Birthing men”, “birthing women,” and everything in-between are in an all out panic.
For those who believe that “birthing people” have the “right” to kill their children, I have a question: At what age, if any, should those children have a right to life? The moment of birth? Some period of time after birth? Hours? Days? Weeks? Years? Age 18, maybe?
Speaking of transphobia… I have to say that I am totally shocked and scandalized by the transphobia on display from the Left since last night… I don’t know what happened, but, all of a sudden, at least for this news cycle, women are female again. We keep hearing this is an attack on women. It’s like these people don’t realize men can get pregnant.
Matt Walsh
Right to choose. Right to choose what? You have a right to choose to get married, you have a right to choose to have sex, to use contraception. You don’t have a right to choose to kill an unborn human being..

More on Covid

About those face masks, consider this: Wearing masks leads to breathing in dangerous levels of carbon dioxide, study finds.
Due to the repeal of that stupid mask mandate, my wife and I are now considering air travel again. Why do I call it a “stupid mask mandate”? Well, the CDC’s own data verifies that they are virtually useless.
What’s going on in Union Township?
Safe Haven Baby Box
The Safe Haven Baby Box allows for anonymous surrender of an infant for a mother in crisis unable to parent. It is located at the firehouse on Old SR 74 between Holman Motors and Sharefax Credit union.
Union Township Board of Trustees voted to allow dogs in the parks.
Effective on or about June 9, 2022, leashed dogs will be allowed in all of our parks. Between now and then, signs and poop bag dispensers will be installed. Dogs remain prohibited in play areas such as soccer fields and children’s playgrounds. Dog owners are required to scoop the poop.
Union Township welcomes new and growing businesses
TQL will be adding an additional 1,000 jobs at its sprawling UT campus.
Kroger bought the old Sears store at the Eastgate Mall. An announcement of their intent is expected soon.
Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe is now open at the Cherry Grove Shopping Plaza.
Sportsman’s Warehouse is in the process of moving into the old Stein Mart location in the shopping center across from Jungle Jim’s.
Outback Steakhouse is planning a new restaurant near Meijer’s where the old Starbucks and a video store used to be.

Union Township Board of Trustees discussed the 2021 financials at the May meeting
In the May meeting, I presented an analysis of the 2021 financials complete with graphs showing the breakdown of revenue and expenses for Union Township. My presentation begins at about 11 minutes into the meeting. Or click here for the 14 minute presentation.
The graphs are here.
Union Township Restaurant Visits
My intent is to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, or carryout at EVERY restaurant in Union Township. In addition to traditional restaurants, I also include a few specialty eateries like coffee, doughnut, dessert shops, and fish fries.
None of the expenses related to any of this are from government or campaign funds. They are entirely out of my own pocket.
As of this writing, my YTD 2022 dining “conquests” in Union Township are as follows:
